Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill

As a cost sensitive person attempting to build a high quality simulator, I realized purchasing the correct impact screen is critical to both the simulator's overall performance and it's price tag. It should be affordable, durable, seamless, impact resistant, have minimal bounce back, low noise, and display HD quality images.

West Coast Netting, Par2Pro, Foresight, Carl's Place and others listed in various forum threads all sell screens but none actually manufacture them. Buying second hand increases cost and my goal to buy the highest quality materials at the best possible price can only be accomplished by purchasing direct from the mill that manufacturers the fabric.

After plenty of research I found the mill that's manufacturing the impact screen fabric for Foresight, Carl's Place and others. The mills highest quality impact screen fabric is a heavyweight knit polyester sold only in 120 inch x 40 yard rolls. The raw material costs $56/yard without shipping.

40 yards is clearly too much material for my simulator so I'm looking to get a group of us on the forum to split a roll.

I have one question, I believe you mentioned that this is the same mill that Carl is getting his from. I use Carl's screen now and have been quite happy with it. My question, is the material you are buying is it this one:

It's neither. It's the Newer model of the second link. First one is cheaper material (little less than half price) and would not render a quality image.

Actually, I have been using the first. Paid $299 for finished 10 x 10 and I think it is a fantastic screen. Now, I don't have anything to compare it to since this is the only screen I have owned or played on. But, I think the quality, sound, durability, etc. is great. I am simply going from a 10 x 10 to a 10 x 16.

I am very happy with the quality and not sure if stepping up is worth it.....

Sorry for the confusion. My enclosure has Velcro on the top and the sides and that is how my current screen connects to the side curtains.

goatbarn and others interested. Took me a couple more days then expected, but just made the video and posted it on a new thread on impact screen comparison. This video shows how the HQ2 sounds compared to the Carl's premium (old version). I really couldnt remember the difference and really wasnt sure there was that much until I made this video and shocked myself with the results on how much quieter the carl's screen was.

Im sure most, if not all of you guys here will be interested in seeing this video. Check it out on the new thread. Im guessing the "new" version will be similar even though its a little thinner

Thought I saw a post in this thread were you indicated there were not enough people to order a roll of the "old" material. Looked back through and could not find the post. Just wondering as I am interested in the old material based on all the positive reviews and thickness of same. I know the new material is heavier, just not sure it will be better. At this price, a screen from the old material sounds good to me because it will presumably then be all gone, and no chance of getting it at any price.

You are correct there was not enough interest in the older material and at this point the mill might already be sold out of it because as of 3 weeks ago they had only 2 rolls left. If you wait a few weeks for the new model to arrive, Carl's place might cut you a deal for a screen made from the older material in order to move it out.

Is it too late to get into the party? I am very much interested but don't know exactly just how much I would need, raw vs finished, etc. My room under construction is approximately 15' 6" wide with a ceiling height of 10'6". I think I'd need a seem to go beyond 10 feet in height? I'd like the seam to run horizontally across the top edge as this would be covered by a black border curtain anyways. Do you need extra height to drape across the bottom?

Sorry for the questions as I'm just starting the process.

I'm in Chicago if it helps coordinate shipping.
