Ok thanks. But I'm good to start the tour now? I have only completed 5 rounds (all handicap rated, but one of which is the 9 hole par 3 course, and I did 3 or 4 of the courses in Q School). My handicap will carry over for the tour this week?

Does the calculation ignore equitable stroke control (ESC), where there is a limit to the max stroke you can take per hole?

The game moves you along at 11. I'm pretty sure there's no ESC.

I'd be curious to know how most people's real handicaps differ from their irl handicaps. It appears to me that they're about 5 shots lower on here.

My tour handicap is 1.2, In TGC I am a 7. IRL I am a 10. Other stats are close. Firs are better IRL while Girs are better on TGC.

21 IRL 14.4 tour handicap. I think the gimmy putts and the ability to find your ball on bad shots are at least a handful of stokes.

1.4 irl and -3.8 here, but I'm speculating that might be a bit low since I've only played 6 rounds, I'm thinking it will be more around -2.5 after 20 rounds. So it almost seems that lower handicappers differ by about 4 or 5 with that difference increasing as the irl handicap gets bigger, which is probably a result of, as Stingreye pointed out, 6 foot gimmes and always being able to find your ball so fewer penalty strokes on here.

Perfect lies are what gets me as well. I golf 10 rounds indoors to every round outdoors. I have a hard time with tight lies.

I'm a 3.5 IRL this year and now at 0.9 on here. My iron game is equally bad in both.

Depends on what your struggles are. Inconsistent or bad ball striking doesn't magically improve hitting off of a mat. That is my top bugaboo, so I am not surprised that sim and RL caps are about the same right now. But as that improves (and it has), I suspect the sim handicap will drop quicker than the RL will and the difference will grow larger.

I'm now down in the 5 stroke category. The 6' gimmies are probably the biggest factor, then add in no rough and it's easy to get below vs real. When i first started on the sim, it was the other way around until i got used to the game and putting.
