i may duck out of this one (which means I'll probably finish all 3 rounds by thursday).

7000+ is almost doable for me, but it really screws with my head and game given I average carry 200 with my driver and do backflips if I nail one 230.

I didn't realize it was three rounds. Have a busy week and I was going to play two tonight, but I've been asked to sub in a hockey game. I'll have to find time to squeeze it in.

This should be fun. Last time we played Pebble Beach..... I think that it was about 6200 yards. A little tougher this time.

yep, I am hole 16 right now about to tee off and BamaGambler is my ghost player and he is kicking my butt. He also had a great shot I believe on hole number 6 - down by the ocean and on blobs it on the green.

Played 8 holes just now for practice. Woowee. Gonna be a little tough for my skill level but should be a good challenge. If I can play my short game well I should be okay.

Round 1 was going decent until a poor drive produced a triple on 18. Got to take some pop shots at some ugly dodgers though...and that made me happy.

I was a COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT to the game of golf in round one.

I don't know how in the world they found out about my round, but it wasn't five minutes after I finished the phone rang at my office. On the other end of the line I hear "Is this Jason Jump?"

I said "Yes."

"This is Pebble Beach, and we just want to let you know that if you don't get your act together in the next two rounds we are issuing you a lifetime ban from our course. Don't bother to play another simulator round on our prestigious track and don't even think about coming in real life. COME ON MAN!"

I kindly apologized for my debacle and told them I hoped to save face and understood their position.

What happened ?

I thought I signed up for sun-tanning on the beach instead of a golf tournament. Spent more time next to the ocean than I did on the actual course I think. And I'm not long enough to miss the fairways, which kills my driving distance which means hybrids or long irons out of the rough trying to reach the long par 4s.

On the back side I got some drives to stay in the fairway and reached 270-plus a couple of times. Front side I was 220-230ish.

Key on the front side is staying on the golf course and not cliff diving like I did.

MainStGolf I am right there with you. My round one wasnt good, but not terrible. I started off solid -1 playing against keither5150 (by the way, you CRUSH drives), but that first par 3.....oh that first par 3. Hit a 3 hybrid, well, I use hit losely. Didn't make the front tees. Landed behind the fence. And wouldn't you know, hit the fence on my second shot. Bounced right back at me. If it was real golf I'd like to think it would have knocked me out and saved me from what the rest of the round had in store. Ended up taking an unplayable lie. The rest of the round was hell in a hand basket.

The second round got worse. And I didn't know I or anyone for that matter, could play worse. Let's just say, by the 3rd hole, I didn't care anymore. I would have rather been strapped to a chair in a CIA interrogation location undergoing sensory deprivation with bright lights and Justin Bieber playing over and over than trying to claw through that round. Saw a little hope when I shot par on 3 of the last 4, but then 18 ate me up like I was a cupcake snuck into a weight watchers meeting.

After the round, when the tears dried and my wife stopped rolling her eyes and answering the kids question "why is daddy sitting on the edge of the roof?" I went on line looking into lessons.

I think my Skytrak has done more bad for my game than good because I am engraining bad habits into my swing. Time to get lessons and take what I learn home to the Skytrak.

I'll fight through my final round tomorrow. Looking forward to the break coming up.

My driver is usually not the problem. My score would have been worse, but I had some great recoveries from bad second shots. This course is difficult at 7000 yards. There won't be too many sub par rounds for this event. Meltdowns are sure to happen on occasion. During one of the majors, I had 2 rounds of 76 to start and then on the 3rd round, I start off with a 10. If you looked at my data, you might think that I was rewinding...... with the 4 tee shots. Nope..... 3 or 4 in the water. After the tears dried up, I managed to put together 17 good holes for another 76. I couldn't post that round due to the excessive profanity. I also had a similar blow up on a 18th hole where I pulled a tin cup and kept asking for another ball. IRL, my buddy got a 12 on a par 4. He found it difficult to hit the ball with the 3 of us laughing so hard. Lessons are a good idea. There are also a lot of great videos on YouTube.

I feel you! I've thought about lessons too. What is frustrating is back in the day I played to a four handicap with a bunch of no-name knock off golf clubs with not a single lesson and never fitted, etc. I took a 15-ish-year break (5-6 rounds in that span) and now I'm 40-plus and a LOT bigger round than I was then. So not as flexible and just can't find that consistency. And I'm SO competitive to a fault. Just trying to find a game that I'm probably never going to find again. Then I have one of those rounds like the 74 or the other day IRL I was just one over heading into the 9th hole, which would have been my lowest round of my life, but hit my approach shot out of bounds and ended up with another 39. Didn't get to finish that round. Probably would been my lowest since my return to the game. But since then I can't find those shots out on the course. Just a CRAZY game.

Haven't have time to play yet. I have to fit in all 3 rounds on the weekend but looking at the scores i'm scared hahahaha At the moment a + score could almost win the tournament. BamaGambler is crushing it again.

Really the key is just keep it off the beach :-).

Thanks. I've found three swing thoughts that are working really well for me. 1. Slow down my takeaway, 2. Fast hands on the downswing and 3. Full extension after impact. I'm finding a lot of fairways with good distance which I don't usually do in TGC. Been playing a lot IRL lately and the flat perfect lie in my garage is awesome. 😀

Nice shooting Bama. Keep it up for the last round. I love looking at the scorecards. The new site is great! I am also a fan of fast hands which is key to distance.
