ProTee United - are you able to let us know the status of the update that had been planned for January/February? I know there were bugs to be worked out, but it's been a few weeks since I've heard anything on this. Very much looking forward to the camera position setup and (hopefully) the universal weather/sun option to make all courses play in bright direct overhead light. Are we getting close to a release?

Just read that, that's a great, love the tilted up camera addition. Ive gotten used to seeing the ball fly off the top of the screen and it just start to curve last second, so then I think its drawing back but never really totally sure until the camera gets closer to the green. This may be one of my favorite updates (along with the chip spin fix being my number one of course haha)Originally posted by ProTee United View PostCorrect. The old follow cam will also work. Follow ON will use the old style and follow OFF the new style with the tilted looking up view. Both use the custom timer follow time. When the timer is set to 0, both views will not follow at all.

I'm pretty sure nothing got changed for offline play. Hardly anyone doesn't have Internet these days so it's tough to make changes when there is so little need. It's like programming TGC to work with and HMT. Not many has one. Why bother. My Courses:

In my mind the offline play is more a safety in case in the future ProTee ever stops supporting the game or they have a massive hardware issue with the server. Not sure how likely either scenario is.Originally posted by mthunt View PostI'm pretty sure nothing got changed for offline play. Spoken like a big city North American user mt. The fact is most of the world DOESN'T have internet. And more importantly for the ones that do, there is a huge range in speed, quality and cost.
There is little more frustrating than planning an evening of sim golf only to find the server's are down, doing a course sync, or otherwise too slow to play properly or your own internet is down, too slow or too flaky to play. Made doubly worse if you have friends over. And especially likely if one is on satellite or cellular internet or stretching a terrestrial service to their shop or garage etc. And that ignores the data cost factor which can be significant with some forms of Internet access such that one doesn't go online unless required (and it shouldn't be required just to play a local round of golf on your sim).
A good offline mode is like multiple tees...greatly valued when needed even if not required all the time by everyone.
Besides every sim has it. Even the Optishot. It's part of being a mature simulator.

Not sure what the problem is, but TGC offline play is working fine. TGC is not designed for offline play. Everything is cloud based. We made a small collection of courses available to be used in offline mode. Obviously not all 100k courses can be played in offline mode. Your stats will sync when you go back online.

There is not really a problem. I just saw on your update list that the new update has some modification to the offline play and courses and I was wondering if anybody knows what they are in detail. That's all. Offline play with tgc works great and I'm very happy about that.

Hmmm, I just read this after discussing a slowing down or drag issue I am having with TGC now in another thread....I was wondering if there was any internet communication that went on between shots when playing and that perhaps my internet connection was the problem. I have never thought of or played with "offline play" mode....but, I was wondering should I play in "offline" mode and see if my slowing down drag problem goes away.......what do you guys think?

Just tested today's updated file. Both issues that were affecting me have been resolved along with some skytrack issues. Mini map works better now as well. We have to be close. I have no more issues to report. Time of day works awesome. There is a wild driving range that I never played for more than a minute because of it being too dark. I may have to revisit it.

I was beta testing the 2.9.5 version which I got at the end of April. Were there updates after that? One issue I had found for the time of day setting was that it didn't also change the weather to be clear...so if you picked a course with cloudy skies (I think I tested the original TPC Boston one) it still wouldn't be bright and sunny even if you set the sun to mid-day. Do you know if that was updated/changed?

2.9.6 is the latest. Not sure about the time of day clearing up the clouds. I will check that. If that's the case, they should add weather adjustment to the mix. Check with Bubba about the latest update. I think that I read somewhere that ProTee said that the update is ready. They are doing course sync today. That is a good sign that the update is ready.

Once you find that driving range let us know what it was, I'm curious nowOriginally posted by keither5150 View PostJust tested today's updated file. It was really dark with an elevated tee so high that you could drive 400 yards, 217 feet above the pin. I just looked it up, it's not really a range even though it is named Everwood driving range. It looks like a course. I conceded my way to the 6th hole just to take a look. Get ready for this...... Par 76....8080 yards. I am so playing this course after the current tournament. It reminds me of a local course that had an October ironman tournament. They added about 1400 yards to the 6700 yard course. I remember hitting driver, 3 wood, 3 wood on Par 5's. One of the reasons that Everwood is so long is that there is only 1 par 3 and 5 or 6 par 5's. I will play it on the weekend and throw down the gauntlet with a low score.
