    Update status

ProTee United - are you able to let us know the status of the update that had been planned for January/February? I know there were bugs to be worked out, but it's been a few weeks since I've heard anything on this. Very much looking forward to the camera position setup and (hopefully) the universal weather/sun option to make all courses play in bright direct overhead light. Are we getting close to a release?

Working on it. Camera position and weather are part or the update.

Very glad to hear that! In a perfect world the tweak to stop the scout cam at the hole would be there too since it's small, but we'll take what we get.

Any idea how far off the update might be? Just a rough indication...2 weeks or 2 months or something in between?

Maybe a partial update is in order with the 3 most important features .......????. Not sure of the implications, but I would prefer more small updates with less time in between than waiting months for one huge update..................I could really use the horizontal shift feature asap...the rest, not so much........with that being said Pro Tee is awesome......3 thumbs up for TGC !!!!!!

I expect the camera shift is likely the change proving most difficult and probably the one being worked on. Just a guess based on complexity...I don't have any inside scoop.

They've had issues in the PC/console version with that as well, so that's not a big surprise...is it players losing connections and dropping out?

If the match play is the problem area I'd be all for what Boo's requesting...to get an update so we can start using the camera setup and lighting changes while the match play continues to be worked out.

C'mon guys. Why don't we just let ProTee do the update? So much armchair quarterbacking and second guessing. Starting to sound like a design by committee project. Let them get on with it!

Huh? I have no problem with what ProTee's doing. I was just agreeing that if it's going to be another month or some lengthy wait for the update, it would be nice if the stuff that's working could be released sooner. They've been on with it for a few months now so we're just hoping for something sooner rather than later, that's all.

I don't think any reasonable person would interpret anything you've said in this thread as being anything other than constructive and relevant points. How is a company supposed to improve their product without input from their customers? There's always one in the crowd...

                      Ok, I'll take the bait.

There is actually a post where we can post our constructive and relevant ideas for improving TGC. Here is the link:

                      http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...rtant-features

I've posted a few (hopefully) constructive ideas there as well.

This current post/topic is at least the third such post in the past month suggesting that ProTee do such and such, and release only such and such to hurry up the latest release. I wouldn't consider it the least bit constructive.

Yes we are their customers and sure they do listen to us, but frankly it does seem like we are telling them how to run their business, when they have long proved to know and care about what they are doing.

I would rather that ProTee be working on the update than spending time reading endless suggestions about what they should be doing, especially when they are likely hard at work getting the update ready and tested...

I'd wager that few of you have worked in IT or project management. It's tough to hit a moving target.

My original post was only asking about the status of the update and how far off it might be. So, I should have posted on the suggestions thread to ask about the status of the update? Makes zero sense to me. It's not a suggestion. Nothing new has been suggested or requested on this thread. Just a request for a status update and then someone throwing the idea out to maybe break it up into two updates. Not a product feature/enhancement request in any way shape or form.

Because that wouldn't make sense. As much as you've done to get TGC designers to convert their courses to be ProTee friendly, I think you've earned the right to ask for a simple status update. For example, I wouldn't have bought TGC if it wasn't for the fact that you've gotten so many designers to shorten and flatten those RCR designs. Because I know how difficult they play on the console version. I seriously doubt ProTee having to take 10 seconds out of their design schedule to type that response hindered their progress in any way.

Also, not one person has stated that ProTee isn't working hard or in any way questioned whether they "know and care about what they are doing". They've proven time and again they have great customer service. Talk about having a flair for the dramatic.
