  • Sky Trak renewal fee....

I bought my TGC with my sky trak last February.....we had to pay $99 fee for ST along with the $1000 for TGC....we were told it was going to still cost $99 each year with ST.........I just got an email that says i need to pay $200 to renew to be able to use simulation software??? This can't be right.....or is it??

i called Skygolf / Skycaddie UK this morning, the poor guy on the phone completely understood my point, and said that the first they heard about this change was today in a email from the U.S. His manager is going to call the US this afternoon and get back to me, they obviously had a crib sheet explaining the "benefits" of the play and improve package, but i stressed to him that after paying £900 for TGC what possible reason would i have to want to play WGT, i got basic WGC free with the GI package and i never once used that in the last year.

It would have been nice to have the option to early renew before sticking it to early customers.

This does not seem very customer friendly to say the least. Also unsure of the legality.

However, I don't really get why the 'game improvement package was required to play simulation golf anyway.
Why didn't they create 3 packages:
          1. Game improvement
          2. Simulation
          3. Both

          That would be far clearer...

They should then offer pre existing customers who have already used it with simulation software package 3 for at least the first year. New customers could then choose the best fit...

Hopefully SkyTrak is made aware of this thread so they can get a good sense of how many existing customers feel about this change...

The fact that this thread is publically open to search engines is not going to paint a very good picture for SkyTrak and people googling about it. Hopefully they work something out, I think it's a great system, but also not pleased about these changes sprung on existing customers. For new customer fine, they are aware of the terms before deciding to invest.

I don't even own a SkyTrak anymore and I am pretty cheesed. If I just bought a SkyTrak, PIP, & TGC I would not be happy & if it were in the return time I would consider returning it. I really enjoyed my SkyTrak but this is not good practice in customer service. Give SkyTrak_Seth a chance to plead their case though. Maybe there is some awesome new upgrade, some value added part that is not out yet...

SkyTrak_Seth will get their chance.. .but fact is the change was made late Friday, without any prior or current notice, just after the 30-day return policy for the holiday deal, is sleazy. That's being kind.

It is quite funny. They do make marketing with more than 100.000 Courses (TGC) which are mainly created by the community and more or less 95000 of it you can kick away, cause they are simply rubbish made or random automated creations.

I do play TGC on my xboxone and created several courses by myself and paid 50$ for the game where the course creation tool is included. (frankysk is the gamertag if you want to search for)

Why does it cost 995$ for a skytrak connection at all? Cause, to be honest... what else is special on the TGC what causes that amount on money? You are sending data to an interface, process it, and the game is doing the rest like on xbox to.

So... I dont see the point for that price and especially not the price on top for the PIP Package.

They do it because they can get away with it. Once there is more competition, prices will drive down automatically.

This is just B.S. I wasn't happy when i had emails directly from them before the product launch confirming no recurring fees, only to find out later that wasn't true. I figured for $99 a year it was acceptable as long as they continued to grow the product which they did. Then to switch it again, is just plain crap.

I don't know if it's tied to any recent sale more than 30 days ago or maybe that it's within 30 days of being 1 year since TGC came out on ST and they want to ding us all going forward now that they know how many have it. I think most of us with ST bought it rather quickly as soon as it was available since we also got a discount from protee.

99 a year, ok fine keep revenue coming for development. 200 a year with no idea if/when it will jump again, might be time to really start looking for something else

SkyTrak_Seth really interested to hear the take on this one.

I guess timing is everything. My Skytrak is on the way and I was looking forward to playing TGC. Guess I'll use the basic package until a cheaper alternative comes out and then sell it. I won't pay them $200 a year to Skytrak to flip a switch so I can then pay another $1,000 to play courses.

The least we can do is call SkyGolf and voice our displeasure at this antic.

I just renewed my $99 GIP last week..luckily it appears I got in before the change, as I am still able to play TGC today.

Skytrak started life by asking for a $99 one time fee for the GIP. Then shortly after launch, they changed that to be $99 / year. Now its going to $200 / year.

I find it unlikely that any other device will come along in the $2000 price range in the next year, but I can hope.

I didn't think this would do much but wanted to see what they would say (I realize that I listed the new price at 250 instead of 200 below) :

Nathan Booker11:34 am Hello. How may I help you?

Todd Piche11:34 am why was the annual fee for simulation increased from 99 a year to 250? ReadDelivered

Nathan Booker11:34 am I am sorry. our membership terms have changed now that we have added more features and have more simulations available. The Play & Improve is renewable annually in order to use <TruGolf, Perfect Golf, TGC> going forward. If you have an iOS compatible device, you’ll now be able to access the Closest to Hole Challenges at 19 WGT golf courses plus Full Course Play on 10 WGT Courses!

Todd Piche11:36 am is SkyGolf aware that there are a lot of current Skytrak owners who will now boycott renewal on simulation and potentially the play and improve option period? I for one will just use the range and skip simulation until prices drop...that's a bit excessive. ReadDelivered

Nathan Booker11:37 am I apologize for any unintended inconvenience.

Todd Piche11:38 am no problem, just surprised as are the majority of your product owners.

To add to the frustration, beginning last Saturday, I get pop-ups every 5-10 minutes warning me to renew my annual subscription that expires in 28 days. About 30 seconds before that pop-up displays on my screen, SkyTrak disconnects and stops working! If I am playing TGC, there is no message - it just stops working every 5 minutes and I need to reboot and reconnect. This makes it virtually unusable for the next 28 days unless I pay the fee now, which I am seriously considering not doing.

I just wanted to voice my displeasure with this money grab attempt. I like many others bought skytrak thinking I would need to pay $99 per year for simulator not $200. Also I feel that WGT is a very poor simulation experience as it stands, so why would anyone pay $200 a year for that?

Exactly!!! That's why they are forcing simulation players to have to use the PIP vice the GIP. There are no additional benefits to sim users, no matter what SkyJack says. If I buy licensing from TGC or JNPG to play their sim, why would I want to play WGT?

How mad will we all be when Skytrak charges us to upgrade to TGC2 even if there is no upgrade charge from protee?

Given their past track record, there is a high probability of that happening

I might just sell my Skytrak and my TGC license with it this spring and not have to worry about it. Then get something different next fall when the snow starts flying. Also, I've seen so many people on the forum say they'll 'take care of us,' but after this, I'm not expecting a whole lot of help towards TGC2 if I even want it. Pretty crappy - I hardly ever touch the range app and I have literally opened WGT one time when I first got it and realized it was garbage... then promptly purchased TGC haha.
                        Working...
