anyone seen this? looks like direct competition to skytrak ?

I’m interested to see if someone can get club and ball data down around $3k in the next few years on something portable (I’d buy a Uneekor today I think if I had a permanent setup with decent ceiling height). I’m not sure if Xi+ vs Xi Tour is same hardware and just software unlock for the extra parameters but the way technology prices drop I’m hoping we’re not too far off from someone taking a shot on thin margins to sell quite a few units.

This looks promising. I wonder if the mevo+ will measure sidespin? One downside to radar is the amount of space needed.

        Very interesting.

I believe the original Mevo tracks 6 parameters, and the new one 15, so it almost certainly includes spin axis and HLA. What other 9 parameters could there be? It says priced under $2,000, so very likely just under.
As for most radar based technologies, you need minimum of 8 feet of ballflight, and 15 total. More is better. I imagine that this will be a challenge for some.
It indicates sim capabilities, so I imagine that TGC and/or other sim software will be an option.

I’ll be at the show and plan to check out the Mevo+. I’m a fan of the current Mevo, and have used it indoors with success with only 6ft behind ball and 9’ in front and no stickers. Numbers generally agree with SkyTrak. If they nail the HLA and spin axis, and open it up for sim integration, SkyTrak will have real competition at the price point.

I'll be very interested in this as I'm currently debating SkyTrak. I would have about 8' to my screen and up to 10 feet or so behind me to work with.

The interesting part about Mevo+ is that they already have all of the integrations and range software complete. If this thing simply plugs into the flightscope range and measures side spin it seems like a no brainer.

According to the FCC application, the Mevo+ is using the same 24Mhz S-band radar as the original Mevo. The Xi and the X3 utilize the 10.5Ghz x-band radar which has much higher resolution and struggles with spin axis indoors.

Very interested in this, was just about to pull the trigger on Skytrak but I am going to wait till Jan to see what this looks like.

Could the Xi and X3 using the 10.5GHz be because they are meant to track the ball for the entire flight, where as the mevo was not designed for that? Maybe that is the short coming of the 10.5Ghz band for indoors? I really don't know.... just tossing my own questions out there.

While there are other differences, the the nature of the different frequencies is that the 24MHz band of the Mevo is going to have inherently far less resolution, i.e. it will not pick up precise details like spin axis as well. Now perhaps they improved their processing or have incorporated other technologies (photometrics?) to make it tolerably accurate, but all other things held equal it will not be as accurate as the Xi or X3. Things like ball speed and flight path don't require a lot of resolution to pick up and so the Mevo isn't far behind the more expensive systems there. The indoor shortcomings are just in the nature of a radar based system. Trackman struggles with it too without a significant amount of room. Better processing algorithms and computational power could improve that, but I would be surprised to see a $2k system make great leaps where $20k systems struggle.

It looks like the Mevo+ includes a boresight camera, and I wonder what the primary use of this feature will be. I expect that FS will use it to help determine HLA, but I wonder how sensitive such a small camera could be given the announced price point (sub $2k). Is this what the future of "fusion tracking" looks like? If so, this unit could be an absolute game changer.

thanks CHansen, i appreciate your input as i don't know much about these radar units. interested in the release and test results for this unit. Any competition in the $2K range is healthy for the consumer.

Yep, love that we're getting more competition in the sim world after Foresight having a near monopoly in the $10k and under realm for so long. Even if it's not perfect, a sim-capable Mevo is only going to spur further innovation in the more budget friendly launch monitor segment and market growth is great for all of us. It would be great to see Trackman jump in too.

Another competitor could be this one as well.

You would be hard pressed to find anyone on this forum willing to buy a unit from this company.

The ES-16 Tour is not new, and has not had a great reception in the market. See https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...used-es16-tour
