Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

Spot on Protee. I can't believe people expect to get one of the top technologies for nothing. The amount of work that goes into the development is astronomical, and these people have no clue. I can't believe the costs are as cheap as they are. $99 in 2 years. Seriously? People really need to learn about supply and demand. Pretty simple concept actually.US - Eastern Time Zone

Supply and demand is exactly what will drive the price down and the lowered price will still allow the sim companies to be profitable. Sell your $400 package to 1000 people or sell your $100 package to 4000 people, it makes no difference. I know that's not exactly right as there is a small amount of variable cost for customer support if you're supporting more people, but you get the idea.

I totally agree with what you are saying if this was a different type of business. I think it would be great if that many people could have golf simulators in their homes. I just don't see that many people having the opportunity to get into the business because of the space and wife constraints. I know I actually bought my house to plan for building a simulator. I just don't think that many people have that kind of dedication. Again, I hope I'm wrong and you can send me this post in 5 years to prove it, but I just don't see it.US - Eastern Time Zone

Yes, but only because TGC plus hardware is too expensive for anyone but the hard core aficionados.
I have it on good authority Optishot alone has sold more than that many simulators.
Market volume is always price sensitive.
-
That's because Optishot is a cheap toy and is useless for a serious golfer. The market for that product is not the same as SkyTrak/TGC.
SkyTrak and TGC is filling a void that has been there for a long time, because you previously had the $500 choice, or the $15,000-$40,000 choice. Now there is a reasonable alternative for people who have the money, but don't think it's worth paying 5 figures for a decent at-home simulator.

This thread has a canny knack of washing away critical posts. Hmmn. Anyone would think there was money in it. Personally I favour a well balanced discussion over a one sided one.

He's referring to the "let's get back on topic" posts that follow the "off-topic"; posts. FYI, I am just an observer!
I will say it's funny to see all the veterans (those from the "other" site) know how this game goes, and that this market is slooooooowwww to react. We know to not expect quick changes, and we also know it's moving faster now than it ever has!

Hello Everyone,
I am looking to purchase the Skytrak and wanted some basic info, I have read a lot of the thread, but not all of it.
1. I can currently purchase the Skytrak, use the range and see graphics to my iPad through an Apple App?
2. Without the need to purchase a dedicated computer can I play any courses now or in the near future?
3. What will be the least expensive way to play courses in the future?
Thanks,
Joey

joeycalda , here your answers :
to 1: yes that is correct. For the basic driving range in the app there will be no extra costs involved
to 2: right now there are challenges available on WGT and there will be a full course play option soon that you can use from your ipad. you will have to purchase the GIP from skytrak (100 per year and WGT will charge another 100 per year. so 200 per year.
to 3: The WGT version I mentioned in 2 is the cheapest as of right now and I can't see much cheaper once coming. TGC will run around 1000 one time purchase and E6 probably over 2000. That's just ballpark since nothing is officially out but that should be close enough to give you a idea.Plus all sims will need the GIP so that 100 per year you will have to pay if you want to use any sim software on the skytrakLast edited by Sascha1818; 10-09-2015, 06:20 PM.

Keep in mind, 1 is going to be an extremely basic range. Really disappointed in the pricing structure for range features. You will have to pay $100 per year to get the most out of the range. I know this unit is much more cost effective compared to other hardware, but at 2k, you should be able to get all the range features included, excluding challenges, longest drive etc.

Really guys ?
why are so many people complaining right now ? 2 years ago your cheapest accurate choice was gc2 and e6. 10000+ !!!!!!! Now you will have skytrak and TGC for 3000 plus 99 per year.
That combination for me is the top choice. And skytrak will have the most options of all as far as I know. Takes a while until that adds up to 10000 doesn't it ? I just don't get all that negativity !
Let's just be excited for the weeks to come. If you want cheap and one time deal I think a Nintendo wii and the golf game will run about 250 one time and nothing ever after.

Since you've asked, i'm assuming you haven't read any of the responses why some people are upset with this. When some pre-orders(including myself) or early orders were told one thing about the cost and then it's another with a continuing payment plan, it will generally make people upset. Crazy concept, I know!!!!
Anyway when joeycalda asked the questions, i replied with what has been published. He may not be aware of the pricing plan or what's included for each.

I do understand where your coming from but when I ordered in April nobody could really tell me what the GIP is for and for whatever reason I still got it. Back then it said yearly fee. But nothing on there website said anything about sim options. They never officially advertised that. It was only through people like Seth that we even found out what's in the works. I really like that all that is happening and I'm glad I bought it. Getting free beta testing for WGT ok only limited but free. I didn't mean to offend anybody. 99 bucks in the simulator world is nothing, that's what I tried to say. I never got the promised Bridgestone balls and honestly I don't even care. I spend 4000 on skytrak and sim setup and will spend another 1000 on TGC. I don't like spending that kind of money but looking around it looks like the best deal. That's why after spending 5000 I don't care about the 99 a year. I do understand skytraks point. Not about leaving people in the dark about GIP but for charging it now that we know what it's for. Like I said I didn't wanna offend anybody and this wasn't aimed at any people just at the lately negative mood here. I, for my part, am excited for what's to come.

I think some of the negativity is because it's getting real close to the end of the season for a lot of folks and this unit as of now still has no sim released and a lot of dates have come and gone. There still isn't an apple update yet and that was supposed to have been submitted some time ago now, a few weeks or so ago if i remember right. I have been in direct contact with skytrak since june of last year and was told some of the stuff that was coming, so i pre-ordered. Don't get me wrong, i still love the unit and I believe it's still the best option at this price range.

Thanks for the replies!
I still wanted to address the issue if a gaming computer will be needed when playing actual courses. I currently use all Apple products in my home. I would have access to an I-Pad 2 and new MacBook pro for use in the golf hitting area of my home.

You know, 5 years ago people were saying, WOW you have a Theatre Room. Now almost every house has a man cave/theatre room. I honestly think that as the years go, more and more golfers will have Sim Rooms and will be playing TGC, E6, Perfect Golf, ect. That being said, you don't even need a sim room with Skytrak. Obviously time will tell, but I see the sim market gaining over 400% over the next 5 years.Originally posted by bpep View PostI totally agree with what you are saying if this was a different type of business.
