  • Perfect Golf (beta) for Skytrak

Perfect Golf might look like a great game but has way too many bugs, even for an early access game still under development. It has a very long way to go before it can be mentioned in the same sentence as TGC, E6, ProTee and Red Chain. There is no AI, no stats, no tournament play and online play servers crash frequently. It currently has 10 courses and no stable (commercially) released version.

Price is unknown, but keep in mind you will be buying a beta product.

Perfect Golf does allow for multi player in person. You can even have multi player locally and have friends play online.

That's such a MASSIVE gap in TGC. Unless sim players are all joey no mates.

if that's true for TGC not allowing multi player then its PG hands down for me, having friends over for a round will be half the fun of having a golf sim set up at home.

PG allows local multi-player off different tee boxes?

Yes with PG you can select a preferred tee for the player. when you then setup a local or online multiplayer game. You can force same tee for everyone or allow players to play from preferred tee as set in Player profile.
Equally important PG courses have multiple tee's designed in so that the tee selection actually means something.
Especially for those real life reproduced courses based on LIDAR elevation data that I have seen and tested so far. Designers have reproduced all the available tee's like on the real course. For fictional courses there are always multiple tee's but in some cases maybe only 3 or 4.

As far as I understand (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) TGC courses do not even have multiple tee's marked in the course data. So to add this they would have to redesign all courses and add that feature.

I am really leaning toward PG. I plan to save $1 per day and my piggy bank should be full by the time of rollout.

It's an open beta test where everyone that has GC2 is welcome to join in, play and have fun FOR FREE!

Not free, we did have to pay $20.00. LOL!!!

Is TGC going to offer multiple tees for players soon? Is this feature being developed now? Or if it's not being developed then how long would it be before this feature is added.

I think TGC missed the mark big on this one. One basic feature that is required is the ability to select multiple tee boxes. What am I supposed to do with my girlfriend. The men's tee's will be too long for her.

I would like to know if TGC is going to resolve this in the near future. If not, then PG sounds like it meets all the basic requirements for sim golf and playing with local friends or online. I wanted to purchase TGC for Skytrak but if I can't select multiple tee boxes for men and women then I might have to go with PG.

It would have been super easy to implement this right from the start. Now, not so much.

Could not agree more. My daughter is 13 and it seems ridicules that she has to play from the same tees as me (even thought she is pretty good). Challenges in WGT are the same. We all hit from the same spot. Should be some thought process in the fact that it's not just a bunch of guys hitting 280 drives all day. There are some family's that would like to feel as thought they were thought of, even though I'm sure it's a minority.

Yeah... exactly right. I've got two little ones that will be playing along with me, and there's no way they will play from the same tees! I cannot, for the life of me understand why TGC would design their courses with only ONE Tee box??? Who even approved such a ridiculous design idea? Obviously NOT a golfer!

Asking because I really don't know - e6 - never a video game right? Pg - originally a video game like wgt and tgc right?

They all started out in life as video games. E6, Redchain, WGT, PG, TGC....all of them. TGC isn't any different in that regard.

I don't think it relevant to discuss what they started as. Who cares. All that matters is what you get if you buy it now.
But for those that have been following this for the past 3 years PG started of as a simulator for launch monitors and then moved over to address the mouse playing crowd and is now back to serve both.
TGC did It the other way around, but again I don't care. I think TGC & PG are great products and to make the same software for different markets is briliant because it keeps the cost down for all of us.

With pg, you can have a friend (local player ) play online with you against others online, like in team skins or team alternate shot

yeah, that's awesome... and each player can be on different tee boxes too, just like the 'real world'

I've not played TGC or PG. I played WGT and the E6 (demo). At this point, I'm kinda wondering about the pricing. It seems all out of whack. WGT at this point is worth about 10$. And the other three seemed priced completely upside down. What am I missing?

Join the club. Pricing is out of whack along with release dates because pricing and release dates have been fueled by mad speculation and extremely poor rollout communication by skygolf. Tgc,pg and e6 are likely contractually bound to reveal nothing. Oops...more speculation because we have been given no info besides real soon for the last 8+ months

I don't have that much knowledge of this industry so I can only wildly speculate and the only thing I can come up with is PG is new and wants to get market share quickly. E6 is used to grabbing money at the commercial level and doesn't think the new guys can touch that. TGC is somewhere in between.

I've set my own deadline until the end of February. If we still hear 'coming soon' my Skytrak will be hitting eBay and I'll go to the GC2. In the software business time to market is critical and given the never ending saga of 'weeks away' since August of last year I am ready to pull the chute.

So we heard this week for TGC and E6 will be next shortly after TGC so wonder how much longer we are looking at for PG its the only one I am even interested in after trying all three E^ on the skytrak and PG and TGC with a mouse.

I would assume they are all (E6, TGC, PG) working really hard to get stuff ready. Since they all have fully working sim solutions with GC2 or some other hardware since a long time ago. I would guess the hold up is with ST. So it's reasonable to assume that once 1 of them comes out, the others will follow within days or maybe weeks.
As for the promise that one or the other will be ready this week. Well we have heard that before. Not once but a gazillion times. Those that rely on that info are setting them self's up for a major disappointment, or not. We will have to wait and see.

I imagine PG sim needs to be released in general before it can be released for Skytrak. It's still in Beta and available for 20 bucks.

Yes, that's true, they need to release full version before skytrak users can buy it.
