  • SkyTrak @ PGA Show 2016

    Figured I'd get this rollin'.

Taking centre stage, literally, at SkyCaddie’s booth #1301 at this year’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, will be the highly-rated and award-winning SkyTrak personal launch monitor / golf simulator.

Since stocks reached the UK in November 2015 SkyTrak has drawn consistently positive reviews from the golf clubs and golfers who placed an early order, and the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show represents the perfect opportunity for UK PGA professionals and retailers making the trip to Orlando to try it for themselves.

And one visitor to the SkyCaddie booth will walk away with a valuable bonus this year, as everyone who has a SkyTrak demonstration at the 2016 PGA Show will be entered into a free prize draw to win their own SkyTrak system.

Alongside SkyTrak will be SkyCaddie’s world-class line-up of GPS distance measuring devices, set to be boosted by some new GPS product announcements to be made at this year’s Show. SkyCaddie’s popular SkyPro, now firmly established as golf’s leading personal swing analysis and training device, is expected to be another big attraction.

“Although it has only recently come into general use, SkyTrak is already being acknowledged as truly game-changing new golf technology throughout the industry” said SkyCaddie’s Senior Vice-President International Sales & Marketing, Jacqui Surman.

“With more and more PGA professionals now using SkyTrak for club fitting and coaching, and with the fast-growing amount of golf courses available to play through SkyTrak in golf simulator mode, SkyTrak’s powerhouse features set at an equally powerful price point is proving unbeatably attractive – and we’ve only just got started as regards using SkyTrak to its full potential.

“It will undoubtedly be one of the stars of this year’s Show, and we expect it to attract a large number of first-time visitors to our booth – where they will also find our best-ever line-up of GPS devices and the ever-impressive SkyPro too”.

Tom Field, Head Pro at The Wychwood GC in the Cotswolds, was one of the early adopters of SkyTrak in the UK. “In the first week I would say that we sold nine extra sets of golf clubs because we had a SkyTrak on hand, so it’s been a revolution already in that aspect” he said. “I already view our SkyTrak as essential for our custom-fitting operation here.

“SkyTrak does what other far more expensive launch monitors do, but at a fraction of the price. With the added simulator functions, it will help us to expand our business and offer a buying and entertainment experience which the internet cannot offer”.

Tom Atkinson, Head PGA Professional at Heswall GC on The Wirral, was another of the first UK customers for SkyTrak. “In just the first week I used SkyTrak to do a wedge gapping fitting, and entertained a group of golfers with a Nearest The Pin challenge when the course was temporarily closed during torrential rain” he said. “We’ve already sold one SkyTrak to a member, with another group pledging to club together to buy one for shared use.

“The SkyTrak graphics are simply stunning. We easily hooked it up to our big TV and had no problem running the WGT Golf sim software, which looks incredible and very lifelike. Also, as there are no cameras to set up, it’s a piece of cake to switch it for a left-hander to use.

“It’s an incredibly good piece of kit which we will use a lot this winter, let alone during the season. I already feel that SkyTrak is adding value to our memberships at Heswall GC, which is absolutely crucial these days”.

Spudly - we're all waiting to hear this answer from you: So what's the delay like? Is it the same as E6?

Might be because it needs a supercomputer to run on it can therefore process images quicker?
The supercomputer I bought for TGC is aging rapidly :-(

Good point MrHogan, what were the specs of the computer it was running on (including the graphics card)? Can you run round there and ask them for full specs on what they're running that on?

Brettster, that's hilarious that you asked Spudly to 'run round there and ask them for full specs on what they're running that on'.

Were you serious? I really hope that was a joke, cause I'm still laughing!!!

Yeh looks great , like the target greens on the range and much prefer the ball flight view like that I never liked the nearest the pin camera view. The leveling feature is nice too, some good updates there

@Sascha - pic labelled oneyard shows 6-7 shots all 1yard long. I hit a couple to the right so that the balls didn't cluster in one spot.
pic labelled behindtheball shows two ball positions relative to the red dot. Both work. I used a golf magazine for perspective.

Is it just me or does anybody else think the video showing ST + TGC is a PR nightmare?
I have no doubts that it works and maybe the putting and chipping is great as well. But in stead of wasting the video talking about irrelevant TGC features why not hit a few shots and give the customers some info they are interested in. The way it came across was that it does not work at all and that it maybe will sometime in the distant unknown future.

I agree. I would not be surprised if it took another 2 months until release. What a bunch of BS. "Sooner rather than later" does NOTHING to make me feel good. They've essentially been saying that for the past 6 months. I am not sure why it is so difficult for them to get someone to show it off and hit on it from skytrak, and give some sort of concrete date. The fact that they have no idea on a concrete date makes me believe this is much further away than any of us would like.

Yes, I found that a little off. That video was poorly done. I could not care less about showing me sky views of the course!! Show me how it works with ST.

            • #69
It was interesting to see E16 have a longer delay than ST. ST has a hell of a product for the price point, but they suck at integration and PR.

The amount of users they're losing by waiting on their security measures before releasing sim partners is a lot more than they would have lost to software piracy.

            • #70
Pretty crazy that they are doing absolutely everything else, but not talking about concrete release dates for sim functionality. The beta testers all say that the sim software works and has worked for some time.
Gotta wonder about the powers that be that run Skygolf. Seems pretty dysfunctional.

I totally agree on the pathetic answers on the launch of sim partners but...........the general takeaway I get from the PGA show reports is that SkyTrak is the best launch monitor currently for the buck and will be so for some time.

I was not impressed by the reports of the ES16 and as of now no other options exist in this price range. I use my SkyTrak almost daily and can't wait to pair up with a TCG, PG or whoever and am thankful I didn't have to spend 10K+.

Yes, I have some issues with SkyTrak but for now I'll stop the griping and enjoy what I have.

Agreed. It was more of a feature list of what TGC does and the guy did a poor job of it to boot. Cory could've just done it himself. With the videos they've done on TGC he probably has a better grasp of it. I wonder if it was as painful to tape as it was to watch.

I'd have to agree completely, I'm not even particularly in the SIM integration, like others, I'm more into the LM use, and the new range version looks (probably) adequate for 99% of what I want from it, however, talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

I mean if I was in charge of Development or business at SkyTrak/Sport-Trak I would have hired as many extra Dev's as possible to get integration going for the PGA show. Then put out as much PR about all those sim options as possible during the show, try to get a spot on GolfChannel (unless aboutGolf wouldn't let them). As it is now, the PGA show will be over, and the PR will be pretty slim in comparison.

Again good product, just poorly ran.

So in regards to the target greens, I'm curious why they did this when this undercuts one of the few reasons people would have to buy the GIP now. This early replaces the need for a CTP contest app. At this point you don't want or need sim there really is no need to buy the GP now once they release this version.

Not sure why you assume the practice green will be in the free range. I don't know but I assume you need GIP to use those targets. The free range functionality has been severely crippled to the point that you either assume the cost of GIP or don't buy the unit at all. At least that is how I see it.
                      Working...
