The Intel 2 quad is no good. Get the i7. GTX 780ti is very good.

The GTX780ti is amazing. I'm getting 120 FPS+ with my with detail on 5 and 300,300 trees. Mind you I currently am running resolution at 1024x768 with the sim setup. I am getting flicker when there is no action on screen. I.e. while the grapics are still to hit shots. When I pan and zoom I can go as fast as I want and its as smooth as a babies bottom. Trying to figure out the flicker. I tried enabling vsync but still get the flicker. I'm hoping it will go away once I switch to my 1080p projector (which is home and I'm in Halifax). I have TGC PC version on my desktop work station and I have a GTX670 card in that machine and I get no flicker and can run detail 5 at about 50 FPS.

Courses such as Pinehurst #2 has a lot of trees and will bring the GTX 670 to its knees.

I'm experiencing the flicker too, even at 720p on my 750ti SC 2GB, detail on 3. Vsync on...AA on....I don't know what that is. It looks exactly like a Vsync off tearing issue, but its on...

I noticed on the US open course that the graphics were jumpy and I had to turn down the resolution to a object level 3 to get it smooth. This really concerns me because I just bought a brand new pc with the following specs. GTX 780, 850watt PS, I7 4790, 240 SSD, just wondering if maybe there is something you would recommend to try as I thought this PC would be able to handle this game maxed out. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Make sure your tree count and distance are at default of around 300 for both. Also, there's no noticeable difference between object at 3, 4, or 5. 3 looks great.

ok. sounds good. I had my trees at 10000 lol. Just trying to see what the limits of the machine are. You are right there is no difference when you bring it down. May be useful for 4K projectors but 1080p not so much.

I went out and bought a PC based on the recommended specs.

I bought the Nvidea GTX660 card yesterday for my PC build. 660 was recommended in this thread. I read some posts last night recommending 670 or 780 minimum. 780 is a grand I think and 670 is 450. I paid 200 for the 660.

Do I need more? Or, am I ok with the recommended 660?

GTX 660 was never recommended by me. It will work but fps will be low at high settings. GTX 670($100 US on EBay)is the minimum. 770 is good. 780 is high end.

I use two GTX 670.

The first post in this thread was by you. I showed the post to the computer store and said give everything in the recommended post. It said recommended 660.

I'm in Canada so prices may be different.

So I should return the recommended 660 and buy something else...got it. Thanks.

Where did you see a gtx 780 for a grand in Canada? The 980 is less than $700 from my searching and would be a very high end card. The 970 gets great reviews is about $400 and in some tests beats the 780.

That was ProTee's minimum and recommended specs dated in September, which was about the time we started testing. It pays to read all the posts but I do update the first post most of the time. This one got ignored I guess.
