I feel that the HD Golf data that Willymakit posted earlier has boosted the output distance. I ran the input data for ball speed, club speed, launch angle on 3 different software programs. I get around 265 yards carry. I have an Exel file that has the screen shots of the 3 separate software programs but I do not know how I can attach/post it on this forum.

Please read back my post about loft.

We won't be going to a fixed loft as there will losses and gains associated with what loft driver you hit.

On day med fairways those of you with low loft drivers would be better hitting a say 10.5 loft driver if you have one as it's better on these "slower" fairways to have more carry than roll. So you may see your ratio drop to say 2.35

However on a fast fairway you will get the benefit on your lower loft drivers as your flatter trajectory will give you the benefit of the increased rollout.

It will therefore be users choice as to whether you have multiple drivers, if your lucky enough to have multiple ones to choose from but you must set the loft to the loft you are hitting

So after talking with the owner on a couple things I have found out that the HD simulator uses no sensors but it's all by light where record up to 2500fps. What I also ask was if there was a boost. And the owner said absolutely not. He states what you get for yardage and distance is in the top 3 of any simulators out there. The owner tried 7 different simulators before buying 4 of these simulators for his business. So then I ask the owner to verify what other guys have said. And they all said other then the short game is spot on and that's what I find out also. So not sure if it will change the minds on my numbers on which I know I priduce every shot. Now a little about me. I'm not a weekend warrior. In the summer I golf everyday and spend hours on the driving range with gadgets like swing tip and cameras, so I know what I'm saying is quite accurate. But like I said even with the little proof I have I hope guys will think I'm not a 1 time knock off.

So hopefully this will clear things up. I did the best I can on getting pictures but it's kind of hard when you have 3 other guys trying to swing and money on the line when we play skins.
Most indoor golf facilities owners know very little. The exceptions are owners that come here to learn. Looking at your pic, I don't see spin and spin axis. It's possible that this particular model uses estimated spin and spin axis to simulate ball flight, instead of actually measuring spin and spin axis. A lot of Full Swing golf simulators(still found at most golf stores) use estimate spin and spin axis.

The ball speed and club speed could very well be accurate, but any chance you can get a GC2 and test?

Im back... yep its all about the LOFT SETTING, cant believe I didnt think of it

Massive thanks to Aurin for finding this

Aurin hit 50 odd balls at lots of different lofts and the varaitions due to loft were staggering, effect both Swing Speed and Distance readings of the shots

It appears it doesn't matter what loft club your actually hit the ball with, distance is calculated using the setting input on the Clubset settings.

Having done initial testing with Aurin I thought a a fixed loft was the answer but after more testing I can confirm the Optishot actual does this perfectly.. sort of. Its to do with rollout

On say medium speed fairway you hit 8.5 driver youll carry less than a 10.5 and the angle means so you will get a lower total distance hitting 8,5 than 10.5 as the fairway as in real life

However on fast fairways there is a higher amount of rollout so hitting 8.5 will still carry less than 10.5 but the rollout is greater so you will go further, as it is in real life

I hope and think its makes sense, so as in real life if we all had multiple drivers on a dry fast fairway wed hit 8.5, on a wet pluggy one we'd hit a 12

    Current Positon

Please Avoid the NO BALL setting if at all possible

Players must set the ball type to the actual ball they are physically hitting

    1. Real Ball, Stock Turf - 100% Speed, 88% Distance.............. This should be spot on

    2. Real Ball, Thick Turf - 100% Speed 88% Distance............... This should be spot on

    3. Foam Ball, Stock Turf - 93% Speed, 88% Distance............. This should be spot on

    4. Foam Ball, Thick Turf - 98% Speed, 88% Distance..............This should be spot on

    5. No Ball Setting - 100% Speed 88% Distance ...................... Still a mystery this setting, although IAN Hoggard uses it and is happy

    6. If using a 3 wood instead of Driver due to Height Restrictions Use Identical settings to those you would normally use as per your ball and turf setup above. 100% confident in this after extensive testing

    7. Everything other than Driver must be set to real world distances varying speed and distance settings accordingly, however 3 wood and 5 wood must not exceed Speed % relative to your own personal ball and turf setup, but Distance settings may be up to MAX 100% Distance Setting... Most players seem to find 100S 100D is perfect, however if you find distance are long then set to 100S 90D or whatever it is to make them correct. Loft setting may have an effect here as with the irons

    8. Any individual Driver, 3 or 5 wood settings outside of the above guideline may be adjusted to a different % ONLY if evidence from an external device, ie TRACKMAN/GC2/FLIGHTSCOPE etc can prove without doubt that a persons Swing Speed/Distance is not being accurately read by Optishot and an adjustment away from the settings above is required. This change would need to be approved by the Board on a case by case basis

    9. All Players must record there rounds and if requested make them available for review by the Board. Anyone found in breach of the above settings or using settings for any club to falsely significantly improve their ability or gameplay (ie, hitting a PW 250 yards) shall be removed from the tournament and face further action as the Board do see fit.

On the path side. It shows where you hit the ball. On that shot it was on the heal. I wish it would have the spin rate which I thought it did. Will have to ask owner if it's on the other simulators he has.

I went from 280 to 290 with loft change... Same average ss. Try it for yourself to verify. Also you can try 20 loft to "verify even more"... Lol.

8.5 real life. Foam. Stock. 2deg is around 10 yd @ 280 yd drive I figure. 3deg probably about 15 yd.

I will be using real golf balls since the Flightscope does not register other types of golf balls. It does however, register swings without a golf ball. This could come in handy with the Optishot that also has a no ball swing option.

What is the loft on your driver?

I use a Ping G10 7.5* loft driver and have set my OptiShot to 7.5* as well. My swing results have been close (10-15 yards short) to real life.

Are we leaning towards a fixed loft of 10.5*?

Pretty obvious now... I'm afraid we might have to go with fixed loft.

    Good to know. Lol.

That's why I had the loft adjusted 1 click on the setting. I find the ball flight was to low to my actuall flight IRl

Wanna hit it 320 with these new settings... Just set to 20loft... Or actually... Don't.. Nobody should tinker with lofts... But that is what would happen. Take my word for it.
