To be real or not to be real?

I actually have my 9.5 degree X Hot set to open which actually delofts it to 8.5 degree. However, Trackman shows my dynamic loft and launch angle to be higher. The dynamic loft is why I believe the distance setting is the correct one to change (if the swing speed is reading correctly). We could have the same swing speed and hit it completely different distances due to dynamic loft.

Good, because this was not directed at you. It was more or less directed at the program and how we can fix it.Originally posted by Aurincoynen View PostNo hard feelings bud. It's an important debate.
I think the error has to be a software issue and not hardware related. For some reason the sensors pick up woods, not just the driver, with a faster speed than reality.

We don't have the super low scores on TGC because of the putting, bunkers, and chips. It's very hard to make putts and alot of the greens are setup very hard. If you look at the US Open scores you will see that. I've never 3 putted so many times in my life until I started playing TGC. Your handicap system should be setup different too if you are posting those low of scores to even everyone out.

I sadly do think People optishots read things differently. Not neccesarily the products fault per se, just peoples setups are different, with different lighting, taped clubs ball position, turft tops etc, and think all these things have an effect.Originally posted by Aurincoynen View PostNo hard feelings bud. It's an important debate. For what it's worth I think we should cap at 92% or so unless everyone's optishot is reading things differently. If this is the case then I'm not really very impressed by the quality DD is producing. This can't really be the case though cause it seems to be reading irons right for everyone.... The bottom line is that we need to be playing it as realistic as possible. Getting fairway bunkers in to play would be a good start.
For example before i blacked my skylights in workshop swing speed was constanly reading 110. BLacked out the skylights so no ambient light, no reads a more accurate 105 ish.
With Irons used to hit ball from the tee holder depression, took out tee holder and replaced with a piece of turf mat to make it flush, 9 iron swing speed went from 78 to 83
What is weird with me is that my deep red fatshafts are very long IRL, I hit 9i 145, every time without fail, as long as clean contact, a given on optishot
To get that on optishot have to increase distance to 110. I do have a steep angle of attack though so wonder if this is whats pulling my iron swing speeds down, but as with every club I set them all to real life so I see the distance and pick the club id play IRL

You got me again.Originally posted by braycobb View Post

The end result is the distances are not right and should be addressed. From your testing I'm guessing that the best solution may be to reduce the distance setting and leave the swing speed setting alone.
I leave it to you and the other board members to hammer out the details and wording.

Open surely adds loft, I'd expect closed to de-loft.Originally posted by braycobb View PostI actually have my 9.5 degree X Hot set to open which actually delofts it to 8.5 degree. I guess, in reality, changing either (or both) should give similar end results. This is part of the dilemma for the board on mandating a set change. For some, the problem is swing speed. For some, the problem is distance. For some, there isn't a problem at all.
Where I stand is this.....Everyone should do their best to verify/modify//tweak settings on the range to achieve real world results. I will always take a stance of trusting that a player's Optishot settings match his/her real game. However, if a situation occurs, we (the board) will ask for additional verification.
Nick did exactly that this morning when he used his Golfsense to measure his swing speed at the same time as using Optishot. I also had a golfsense and actually found it showed slower swing speeds than a Trackman.

Interesting point. I'll fiddle with my lighting and see what happens.Originally posted by JohnMeyerI sadly do think People optishots read things differently.
