  • Perfect Golf (beta) for Skytrak

Perfect Golf might look like a great game but has way too many bugs, even for an early access game still under development. It has a very long way to go before it can be mentioned in the same sentence as TGC, E6, ProTee and Red Chain. There is no AI, no stats, no tournament play and online play servers crash frequently. It currently has 10 courses and no stable (commercially) released version.

Price is unknown, but keep in mind you will be buying a beta product.

  • I'm curious. Are the beta testers having the same phantom shot and misread issues with PG that some had with tgc?

    • 99 for the range
199 for range and standard courses
249 for range, standard courses and user courses and tournament play

But you also have to spring 20 bucks for the steam app first.

I'm not 100% sure that this has all been confirmed, but hopefully we'll know for a fact very soon.

    • No we are not experiencing phantom shots and misreads on PG with Skytrak

      • Well, PP have announced on their Facebook page that they are aiming to get the 64-bit version of Perfect Golf out this week. Whether or not this has any impact on the SkyTrak release of Perfect Golf is unknown to me. Just putting it out there.

        • So in a roundabout way they figured out how to charge for user created courses...

It's SkyGolf - of course they figured a way to squeeze blood from a stone. I swear they must pay more money employing Actuarial Pricing modellers than developers....

We get non-reads just like any other launch monitor, however, I've never seen a phantom shot nor a shot that I didn't expect to see (a misread.)

This is great to hear. With WGT, I get both non-reads (with soft chips and some putts) as well some misreads (or miscalculations) that travel only a few feet or much farther than they should. I'm glad you are not seeing this with PG.

I certainly don't think it's unreasonable to be charged $50 for what could be any number of courses. There are already some awesome additions that are well worth every penny.

I just don't like that they're making money off of courses that users created by lumping it in with access to online play. Perfect Parallel announced they wouldn't charge extra to access user courses for pc players if I remember how it went down. I have a gc2 so I'm wondering how it will play out for other hardware...still holding out for a buy version...

        • I was hoping for a one-time option, but that doesn't seem like it's in the cards. I guess the yearly option isn't absolutely horrible. I think you have to compare it to the only other real competitor - TGC. What are the odds that some better simulator software (or hardware for that matter) won't be available in 4 years - at the time of the break even point?

I'm looking to grab this as soon as it's available!

          • Not sure on upcoming hardware or software, but it took a long time for someone to come along and seriously challenge GC2. Also, when will the top "real" courses be available? That would be good to know. The $50 isn't unreasonable it just makes it feel like a money grab. I mean seriously, why even have that option. Also, why have a range only option, you already get an improved skytrak range for $99 or maybe you get PG range free with your $99 sim fee. Have a single yearly fee for full software or a one time buy fee and be done with it.

            • The specs state Windows 7,8,1 (they must have really retro fitted it to work with Windows 1). But my questions is will PG Skytrak work on Mac OS ?

As has been stated multiple times on this thread, YES it will work in OS X with Skytrak. I know for a fact one of the beta testers used OS X.

Specs say: OS: Windows 7, 8.1
                Not 7, 8, 1.

And you also have to spend 99$ for Skygolf/Skytrak yearly:
GAME IMPROVEMENT PACKAGE: Must maintain yearly SkyTrak Game Improvement Package ($99/year)

This is how Skytrak is getting it's own share of the money yearly.

            • Asked the question on Perfect golfs online tour forum PG runs on OSX, but because Skytrak doesn't have a DLL for OSX, it will only run on windows

So I guess the initial release of PG for SkyTrak will only run on Windows then?

This is the answer I was expecting. I think the "runs on OSX" talk has likely been the result of testers using virtualization on their Macs. On the other hand, OSX isn't that far from iOS, so it would seem reasonable that it comes along eventually.

            • SkyTrak technical team have signed off on the integration. We are now just waiting on management to sign off. Should only be a few days now.

Skytrak do not provide a MAC OSX integration so PG will only work with SkyTrak on OSX via Bootcamp. Since PG runs on a Mac you will be able to as soon as they create an integration with OSX. We have separated out the game and the integration so you can at least use 64bit windows (releasing this week on steam) with your Skytrak. Again they do not provide a 64bit dll file so without a separate app it would not be possible.

Prices as discussed above are accurate.

This is a big disappointment as everything I had been told from both PP and Skygolf was that OS X was going to be available for simulation play.

I wouldn't think it's PPs fault that rapsodo doesn't have an OSX interface. PP had a Mac version ready and waiting for them.

True, but I had asked specifically if Skytrak and PG would work on OS X. I was told by multiple people yes, and that they had beta testers using that setup. Clearly I was not told the truth and that is what bothers me the most.

            • Will someone send me all keyboard shortcuts for PG. I will create a remote keyboard layout for PG like I did for TGC. Thanks!

FYI there is one out there that I created as well - Perfect Golf Sim

            • They are all configurable inside the game under the Control Tab in Settings so each player might have different settings.

              • I cant believe anyone from PP would have said the Skytrak would run on OSX natively since the SkyTrak is currently incompatible with OSX? IF they did I will have words with them. The last thing we want to do is mislead people...
