  • Perfect Golf (beta) for Skytrak

Perfect Golf might look like a great game but has way too many bugs, even for an early access game still under development. It has a very long way to go before it can be mentioned in the same sentence as TGC, E6, ProTee and Red Chain. There is no AI, no stats, no tournament play and online play servers crash frequently. It currently has 10 courses and no stable (commercially) released version.

Price is unknown, but keep in mind you will be buying a beta product.

    Can this be a sticky?

Does anyone have any experience with perfect golf using gc2. (I know you are out there). Things have sounded positive and would love to hear more.
Also. Is it true that there were no beta testers for skytrak/perfect golf?

Any chance we can see a video review of them? Would love to see how fast the reaction time is and the on screen response to shots? Is it slow, as it is with TGC, as in 5-7 seconds between hit shot and ball appearing on screen?

luv2golf perfect parallel social is that the full product just leased? Instead of outright purchase?

So that would be $99 GIP + $249 if so I like the sound of that.

Pointless asking for a sticky but I'll ask anyway

seems obvious to me that each potential sim partner would have a sticky in the SkyTrak thread, maybe im wrong

So I read on another forum that Perfect Golf for Skytrak should be ready once the public release is live on steam, which is about 3-4 weeks away, for what it's worth.

That would definitely challenge what I heard from a high up at sport trak just last week. I was told 7-10 days and based on the job title I would expect that. I won't say specifics on names, but I checked them on LinkedIn and I can't imagine they could say 7-10 days and instead it was 3-4 weeks from release.

So Tekbud, without actually naming the other forum, is this a forum that would have reliable info about PG for ST?

Hard to say ,but they do have active users on the app from other hardware providers so...

It looks like the latest news on Steam is that PG will not be using the season pass format for playing user created courses by users who are not using full-size sims. However, PG still plans to require season passes for full-size sims like ST.

Check out their social website.........season's pass is what they call their yearly lease.

In the absence of any demos from TGC or PG I bought them both on steam to see how they compare against each other. Its a cheap way of getting a feel for each game.

I'd already had TGC on steam for quite some time as I'd previously wanted to take a look at course creation. I tried PG for the first time tonight, I wasn't expecting that it would stack up against TGC as that seems to have all the momentum. I was pleasantly surprised. TGC is known for its great graphics but I think PG matches it, if not surpassing it. When playing them back to back TGC feels like the contrast is too high - like watching a TV when all the actors all have orange faces. The PG colours seem more natural. PG gameplay was easier although this is irrelevant for sim play. Id also like to shut up the commentary in TGC, no doubt that's an option. TGC feels more video gamey.

I'm pleased that there are 2 genuine options to go with (assuming they can both chip and putt). For me it could well come down to price. If PG is half of TGC that will be mighty tempting.
If no demos get released then I'll base my decision on the reviews of those that see them at the PGA show or wait until theres youtube footage. Like everyone I'm eager to get SIM play but at the same time I don't want to rush in and make a rash decision that I later regret. I also have to weigh up how important some features really are to me, I want to be able to play rounds against my son and TGC can't provide that (either multiple tees or powerboost for a player would address that) but would I forfeit that if theres no one online to play against (say everyone goes TGC for instance)?

For me E6 is out of the running, the graphics are outdated, the greens and fairways are ok but the rough/bushes/trees can be impossible, I've also hit my longest drives ever on E6 (excl. Optishot) which tells me its b/s. Then theres the pricing.

                  MrHogan,

When you say you play on steam do you mean that you are able to play with your skytrak via steam? I have never used steam before but have heard good things. Also, do you have to use wifi to connect your skytrak to play TGC or PG or can you direct connect via the USB?

No today we can only play the video game without skytrak integration. Who knows by the end of this week though...

No. He just meant that he played the regular video game version. Only the beta testers can play the sim version with Skytrak.

Hope you skytrak guys can be playing simgolf soon!!! PG rocks, can't afford TGC at this stage.

there are more coming with the official release, and then there will be MANY more once players can publish custom courses.

Does Perfect Golf allow for multiplayer in person? My understanding is that TGC does not at this point. Is that correct as well?
