  • Best mat I've ever hit off of, wow!

I'm in the process of building my golf sim and have been using old mats from when I was a Golf Course Superintendent. I'm a 50 year old with a 10 handicap with the old system...if that matters. I've also got a wrist that is so bad that when the doctors look at my MRI, they all say...wow, that's impressive since it's so bad. So yes, I need all the cushioning I can get if I want to hit a couple hundred balls at a time off a mat and live to tell about it.

I purchased a CCE mat after reading about it here on this site and ordered through Costco for $450. Then I went to my old club where I was the Super....and they bought new mats which changed everything for me. They were so good that the next day I called the Pro to ask what he purchased. It's the Quattro Mat from Wittek Eagle One....a company I used to buy things from so I was familiar with them. Top notch products for sure.

So I ordered one and will be returning my CCE mat back even before I try to compare. I paid $399 for the Wittek Quattro plus another $100 for shipping. Next day after I ordered (ouch), they went on sale for $325. Get yours now.

Just thought I'd throw this post out there for others that are old and have pain like I do so that there is a solution...the Quarrto!

    Play well.

I paid $75 for a 12"x35" strip. I got two of them so $150 total.

linkkingx - I will need way more than 12"x35", something like 4'x5', or 5'x6', can you ask the price on those?

Brettster When I ordered mine I wanted a 4'x5' and they wouldn't ship anything that big. I ordered an 18"x4' mat to use as an insert or addon. That was back in May so not sure if it's changed.

  • Does anyone have a good comparison between these mats and Fiberbuilt? I tried a few before FIberbuilt that caused wrist pain. These are very tempting for the price.

    • Anyone notice or tracked diferences in spin rates off of the various mats? I have a Wittex Quattro and spin numbers seem a bit low.

      • Brettster yeah if you want a full size matt you're probably better off getting from wittek. Looks like the 5x5 is $400, but they might have sales occasionally.

I wrote Wittek an e-mail mentioning that people were getting the Quattro mat on sale. I had been watching it for a while & didn't see a sale price. They sold it to me for $325. Great customer service. Its worth it to reach out to them.

      • Just did local pick up and got the Quattro mat last Fri. Pick up was quick and they helped loaded into my minivan.

        Mat looks great.
A little squishy standing on it.

My previous setups have been diy gel pad with overlying cheap allturf mat and the rawhide.

Will try out some hits and report back regarding spin and how it compares with my other mats.

Ahh, I've seen these at the range but have never considered them for home use. Is the idea with the octagon shaped mat that you actually have 8 different hitting areas to use/rotate over time to extend mat life ?

That's correct, you can rotate it to extend mat's life

        • I see Wittek has the Quattro and a Mega mat. Mega mat takes real tee. Anybody compare these two? I'm not hung up on real vs other tee, just looking for most real feel on a mat.

Currently have a CCE and not liking how fat shots feel (hard and bit of grab). I prefer a mat where I can move the ball around and not limited to small strike area.

          • After playing on the Quattro mat for three rounds these are my impressions.

Really well constructed. Mat is darker green than the rawhide mat and allturfs mat. I like that aesthetic. I see no transfer of any green plastic to my irons unlike the rawhide and allturfs.

Fairly heavy and the mat does not shift during sim play. I had that problem with my DIY gel pad mat with the allturfs mat.

Top green fibers are less dense. Prevents the club head from getting grabbed on fat shots. The tee claw however does not stay in as well. I had to replace it a few times each round.

I like the overall feel of the mat. It feels real nice on flush shots. Fat shot still give you feedback. My spin numbers on wedge shots were slightly lower. 9500 versus 10k with the unicorn balls.

            Slight cons:
Standing on it feels a little squishy. Not awful but transferring your weight into the ground doesn't feel as efficient.
On a really bad swing where I would have made a divot 2 inches in front of the ball, I felt a little more discomfort versus the diy gel pad. However it's way more comfortable than the rawhide.

Overall I'm really happy with the Quattro mat. It is going to last a very long time. I'm confident it won't affect my swing to where I become a picker which the rawhide did. It is slightly more penalizing on fat shots than the DIY gel pad.

I know you mentioned wedges, but what type of spin are you getting on mid irons?

                My 9 irons spun 8500 to 9k.
                7-8 iron was 5500k.

Mid irons I felts were about the same.

I have no buyers remorse with this mat.

            • If anyone would be interested in buying a 59"x59" Quatro mat and cutting it into 5 strips, i would purchase one strip from you for $100.00 +shipping costs.Unfortunatly Wittek isn't open to selling 12"x59" strips.

Guys - I can buy one and cut it into strips, please let me know and I will order one. I called the guys that sell it up here in Canada and they told me I will have it in 2 business days. If I order Monday, I will get it by Wednesday and can ship it to you all right away.

            • It’s not the easiest thing to cut. At least if you’re OCD like me and need the edges to be straight. 🤣

It’s super easy to cut. Just use a table saw or circular saw. Cuts perfect straight lines

            • Yeah i'm the same way. If no one wants to to do this. I may just break down and buy the 59x59 at $399.00. Just didn't want to use it as a stance mat, as someone on here mentioned it was a bit squishy under foot.

              • Hey I bought two 12x35 inch strips from steven. The turf feels great but one small problem. I never measured my insert before ordering. I took the 35" number off of here. I have a 9x4 fiberbuilt set up. The two strips I bought do not fit.

Anybody interested in either of the strips? I paid $179 all in to get both here. Will ship out for $85 each.

Let me know. I'll be ordering again but in my correct measurements!

Hi Brad, do you still have one of these strips available?

              • Yes. I cut mine and use the FB stance mat/tray. The factory edge is nice and tight against the stance.

I cut another using the opposite long factory edge and sold it. That left the center section with two rough edges. I’ve since also cut a Divot Action sized insert out of that scrap center, as the fore and aft edges still had a factory finish.

I don’t think you’d ever get 5 good strips unless you’ve got a table saw or something that can cut it...utility knife just doesn’t work well, as the mat is pretty thick and multi-layered.
