  • Best mat I've ever hit off of, wow!

I'm in the process of building my golf sim and have been using old mats from when I was a Golf Course Superintendent. I'm a 50 year old with a 10 handicap with the old system...if that matters. I've also got a wrist that is so bad that when the doctors look at my MRI, they all say...wow, that's impressive since it's so bad. So yes, I need all the cushioning I can get if I want to hit a couple hundred balls at a time off a mat and live to tell about it.

I purchased a CCE mat after reading about it here on this site and ordered through Costco for $450. Then I went to my old club where I was the Super....and they bought new mats which changed everything for me. They were so good that the next day I called the Pro to ask what he purchased. It's the Quattro Mat from Wittek Eagle One....a company I used to buy things from so I was familiar with them. Top notch products for sure.

So I ordered one and will be returning my CCE mat back even before I try to compare. I paid $399 for the Wittek Quattro plus another $100 for shipping. Next day after I ordered (ouch), they went on sale for $325. Get yours now.

Just thought I'd throw this post out there for others that are old and have pain like I do so that there is a solution...the Quarrto!

    Play well.

I am getting a wittek quattro and going to cut strips, if you are interested in a strip

Anybody interested in either of the strips? I paid $179 all in to get both here. Will ship out for $85 each.

Let me know. I'll be ordering again but in my correct measurements!
I don't think I was able to post about my error here. I did make a sales post in the sales section instead regarding the 35x12 strip. My bad.

my comparison. 58* wedges. 9pm swing for me.
noticed wittek knock off from China was about 400 rpm lower. Not a big differences considering I’m not a pro and results will vary. I tried to eliminate outlier shots too. Once notice I had was the YGT-3D was more consistent strikes and smash factor. Max shot from both very similar but my contact was not as crisp on fiberbuilt consistent which I think lead to less distance. Take it for what one guys results mean but I like both. The ygt-3D knock off felt awesome but I think is more forgiving that the fiberbuilt.

      • Any type of thin strip that can be put on top of the quattro to make it so you can putt on it?

          • I felt like I would share my experience between multiple mats I have owned. I have a divot action and hate it bc it just gives to much to be realistic, causes spin numbers that are way off. I have a rawhide and it hurts like hell within a week or two. The gel insert diy truestrike grabbed like none other on fat shot, definitely stay away if you're a digger. Hurt myself where I was off of golf for six months ranging from shoulder and wrist to finally an intercostal tear. Quatro is great but at the end of the day if hitting every day it will still cause some soreness, not sure if from improper swing mechanics or just left over injuries from previous mats. The crazy thing is when I go back to tried and true Fiberbuilt it always always prevents and stops the pain the other mats have caused. It has disadvantages but those I can deal with bc pain is just not an option. I'm a 3 hc irl so I can pick it clean with the best of them, but even I get pain with all the other mats. Trust me when I say I too didn't want to spend a 1000 on a mat, but it really is worth every penny imho.

Thanks for the info. I really didn't like the FB, but also tend to dig a little, and want to avoid injury. I wonder about the soft strike and EZ Tee -Tee line now. I assume since they are not mentioned that you have not hit off of them?

If you want to offload your Divot Action, I’m a happy user (while still swapping with my FB too). PM me if interested, maybe we can work something out.

          • We are getting more and more questions on the webchat at our site regarding differences between mats we sell. So we put together some info.
All mats are commercial grade mats used at ranges across the country.
We have these in stock at our IL facility, so the best option if you live around is to see and feel mats here yourself (and save on freight if purchasing). For Canadian buyers, our distributor in Canada: Turf Net Sports Supplies (Ontario)

            Quattro Mat (part number 78180)
The “Fan Favorite” Quattro Mat is the most realistic simulation to a fairway on the market. Using a scientific revolution in mat technology, the Quattro Mat features an impact dampening system. The knitted nylon turf is bonded to an interface layer which protects the mat from tearing. The dampening system consists of highly elastic polyurethane fibers acting to absorb the impact of the club. This is then connected to an elastic vinyl mat for additional comfort. The end result is what gives the Quattro Mat an incredibly soft feel while providing extra protection to the golfer's wrists, torso, and lower body. There are eight tee holes on the mat to extend the mat’s life. Bottom side of holes are countersunk to accept base of rubber tee.
            Size: 59"x 59"
            Weight: 40 lbs.
            Thickness: 1
            ¼"

            Mega Mat (part number 78197)
The closest you can get to real turf. This mat gives you the feel of real grass without the bounce of other mats. With its revolutionary design the Mega Mat is easy on golfers’ feet and knees. If a golfer hits a heavy shot on this mat, they will feel the club turn over in their hand to simulate what happens on real grass. While there are 2 tee holes per side, the most intriguing benefit is that wood tees can be used on this mat to further simulate real grass. Just stick your tee right into the turf and you are ready to go!
            Size: 59"x 59"
            Weight: 42 lbs.
            Thickness: 1
            ½" with pad

            Made in the USA

Dura Turf Mat (part number 78183)
The standard for quality, durability and customer acceptance. Proven in use, day after day, shot after shot, our economy mat is priced right for any budget. The Wittek Dura-Turf Mat uses the world's finest synthetic grass for a reliable mat that features a shock absorbing pad and reinforced tee hole. The nylon turf will not leave green residue on any club no matter how many swings are taken. The bottom side of tee holes are countersunk to accept base of rubber tee.

Mega mat has taller fibers on top so when you hit a fat shot, it will grab the club and simulate a fat shot. The quattro mat has a tighter lie, more like fairway. The Mega mat can have a wooden tee inserted directly into the fibers and also has tee holes for rubber tees. The quattro mat only uses rubber tees for teeing up the ball.
There are no long-term issues using wood tees. The Mega Mat is commercial grade, made to withstand excessive tee use.
Mats are shipped rolled in the box. We always can do flat, but then it must go on a pallet (pricey if ordering single mat)

Wittek thanks for the clarification. That additional info is helpful. Seems to me that the Mega Mat may be the better of the two then.

          • I switched to a Quattro. I'm a fan. I struggle from back pain due years of abuse. I was getting pain after hitting sessions on my previous mat. I've had the Quattro for a couple months now and played many rounds. No more back pain. I have a "digger" swing, and I like how the Quattro doesn't hurt my back but fat shots are short as they should be. I like a big hitting area as I use a GC2 on a slider and give me room to operate. As noted, only downfall is it doesn't take a real tee. No signs of wear yet.

I'm tempted to try mega mat based on comments above.

I requested a demo piece of the other turf they carry that can hold a tee, which I then cut into a smaller piece and embedded it into my Quattro strip. I prefer this to the birtees and other solutions. I ended up doing somewhat of a sloppy job, but it works.

However, for full transparency, I’m currently trying out a soft strike mat and using the tee’s that come with it.

So that is a piece from the mega mat? Thanks, keep us posted on how the 3 of them compare.

            • RJBoogie - I'm also curious, is that 'Mega Mat' that you cut that small tee area out of, and put into your Quattro strip? Also curious which launch monitor you use? You can fill that out in your information up here for your User Profile if you like.

I think I would agree, I would like that better than using 'birtees', and also curious on your 'Soft Strike' review. If you cut that small piece out, maybe you have other bits of that mat you would sell off?

              Thanks,
              -Brett

              • The Quattro not using a real tee is not an issue for me. I like one big mat. I like how the two tee holes on each side are oriented. I use one for driver (red tee) and one for other (white). My GC2 is on a slider so I have space for irons and putting. Click image for larger version

I bought the Quattro directly from China (yuhegolfmats). The sample I requested is described on their site as “tee line turf golf mat with 35mm tee line turf and 10mm foam rubber”

I believe I cut the sample they sent in half to embed into the Quattro mat. I could have gone with 1/4 of the size to just place a small square to hold tees. I’ve been redoing the flooring in my garage sim and it’s a mess right now, but I’ll send you the piece for free if I can find it.

As far as LM, I’m using an EyeXO.

Thanks RJBoogie your sample arrived a few days ago. I like it and it seems to be well made. That seems to be close thickness dimensions to Mega Mat? Have you ever used a Mega Mat, or compared that to Fiberbuilt?

I'm still thinking I may buy a full-on Fiberbuilt for my stance mat, as I have to know for sure that I have no pain, or chances of injuring my arms/wrists from swinging on any other mat as langnolen says above. I've played in Bar Sims just a few rounds, or an hour of hitting balls, and my wrists are sore as heck - I can't risk it...

              • I ordered the Quattro last week and it should arrive today. I ordered this net off of Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) since it's portable and I can move it between my garage and back yard. Thankfully I'm in California and can hit outdoors 8-9 months per year since my wife won't let me set up shop permanently in the garage since she doesn't like getting into a hot or cold car (SMH). I figure I can be up and running in about 5-10 minutes between setting up the net and laying down the mat. I'm contemplating a Skytrak but the backorder situation is crazy (4-5 months to get one). Curious how well everything will work out for me.
